インターネット上に溢れる、もはや計測することすら不可能な量の画像は、何らかの現実を表象しうるのでしょうか。それとも単にRGB3色の画素の組み合わせがつくる視覚的な刺激にすぎないと言えるのでしょうか。ルフはネット上に氾濫する匿名のポルノグラフィに着目し、「nudes」シリーズの制作をはじめましたが、このシリーズではさらに「イメージ」の解体へと踏み込んでいます。日本の漫画やアニメから取り込んだ画像に原形がわからなくなるまでデジタル加工を繰り返し、画像から意味や情報を剥ぎとっています。

Are the millions of Internet images, so numerous as to be uncountable, reflective of reality? Or are they simply visual stimulants produced by combining RGB colors? Ruff began making the nudes series with anonymous pornographic pictures that are ubiquitous on the Internet and then began deconstructing the images. By digitally manipulating them to the point where it is impossible to identify the original forms in the pictures (derived from Japanese manga and anime), Ruff strips the pictures of meaning and information.
