写真の歴史から考えると、ヌード写真はその黎明期より存在する古典的なジャンルといえますが、1990年代半ば、インターネットの急速な普及はヌード写真の流通にも大きな変化をもたらします。当時、デジタル画像の探求に取り組み始めていたルフは、ネット上に氾濫するポルノサイトから画像を入手し、作品を制作しました。色調を変えたり、極端にぼかしたりと、コンピュータによるマニピュレーションを徹底的に行うことで、そのヌードの構図がわずかに認識できる程度まで加工していきました。

In terms of photographic history, nude photography is a traditional genre that has existed since the dawn of the medium. But due to the rapid spread of the Internet, the circulation of such images underwent a great change in the mid-’90s. Ruff, who at the time had begun searching the Net for digital images, obtained various kinds of nude pictures from porn websites to produce this series. By thoroughly manipulating them with a computer to alter the color tones and make them extremely blurry, Ruff processed the images to such a degree that the composition of the nudes was hardly recognizable.
